Tim Daly made his professional debut as a child actor in the early 1980s with a memorable role in Barry Levinson’s Diner (1982). His television breakthrough came with the long-running NBC sitcom Wings (1990–1997), where he starred as the responsible airline pilot Joe Hackett.
Daly’s subsequent credits include a role that garnered an Emmy nomination as the troubled screenwriter J.T. Dolan on The Sopranos. He voiced Clark Kent/Superman across Superman: The Animated Series and multiple DC animated films, becoming a defining voice for the character.
His other TV credits include obstetrician Pete Wilder on Private Practice (2007–2012) and Henry McCord, the husband to Téa Leoni’s Secretary of State, on the CBS drama Madam Secretary (2014–2019). His film work includes The Fugitive (2000 TV series), Basic (2003), and various independent projects. In 1998, Daly appeared in several episodes of the Emmy award-winning, Tom Hanks-produced HBO mini-series From the Earth to the Moon playing astronaut Jim Lovell.
As a distinguished stage actor, Daly earned a Theatre World Award for his Broadway debut in Coastal Disturbances. He was also cast as Lt. Commander John Challee in The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial in 2006. Daly has dozens of Off-Broadway and additional theater credits.
