David Acord is known for his contribution as a supervising sound editor of the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Acord received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Sound Editing and British Academy Film Award for Best Sound for his work on The Force Awakens, with fellow sound editor Matthew Wood.
He also provided the voice of several characters in the film, including the stormtrooper FN-2199 (often known as TR-8R). Though the voice role is minimal, the character gained considerable attention on the Internet following the film's release. Acord also had minor voice roles as an Imperial Male PA and two stormtroopers on episodes of Star Wars Rebels.
Most notably, David provided the voice for The Mandalorian’s adorable Grogu (a.k.a. Baby Yoda), as well as Storm Troopers and Jawas from Season 1. In The Force Awakens, David is the voice behind Star Wars fan favorite First Order Trooper FN-2199 (a.k.a. Traitor Trooper) and would-be BB-8 kidnapper Teedo, as well as the "Crimson Corsair," Sidon Ithano, among others. In Rogue One, David voiced Saw Gerrera's lieutenant Edrio Two-Tubes - a role reprised in the hit D+ series, Andor.
In the Star Wars episodic, Ahsoka, David voiced Noti. David has voiced several characters in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, including Rotta (Jabba the Hutt's son), EV-A-4D (General Grievous's doctor), Pilf Mukmuk (Hondo's Kawakian monkey) and the “Rabbit” Servant Droids (also featured in Book of Boba Fett). In Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Acord voiced Polis Massa medical droid, GH-7 (who oversaw the fateful delivery of twins, Luke and Leia, “She’s carrying twins…”).
In 2020, he received his second Academy Award nomination for Best Sound Editing for the 2019 film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, shared with Matthew Wood.
