
Christian Borle is a two-time Tony Award-winning American actor and singer renowned for his dynamic stage presence. A Carnegie Mellon School of Drama graduate (1995), Borle’s Broadway career began with his 1998 debut as Willard Hewitt in Footloose.
He gained prominence as Jimmy Smith in Thoroughly Modern Millie (2003) and earned a 2005 Drama Desk nomination for originating multiple roles, including Prince Herbert, in Monty Python’s Spamalot.
Borle’s first Tony nomination came for playing Emmett Forrest in Legally Blonde (2007). He won his first Tony for Best Featured Actor in a Play as Black Stache in Peter and the Starcatcher (2012) and his second for portraying William Shakespeare in Something Rotten! (2015). Other Broadway credits include Mary Poppins (Bert), Falsettos (Marvin, Tony-nominated), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Willy Wonka), Some Like It Hot (Joe/Josephine, Tony-nominated, Grammy-winning cast album), and Tammy Faye (Jim Bakker).
On screen, Borle is known as Tom Levitt in NBC’s Smash (2012–2013), with roles in The Bounty Hunter (2010), Blackhat (2015), and NBC’s The Sound of Music Live! and Peter Pan Live!. His TV credits include Law & Order, The Good Wife, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, Prodigal Son, and Elsbeth. Borle voices Vox in Hazbin Hotel and has Disney credits like Sofia the First and Tangled: The Series.
