From antagonist to protagonist, we are excited to have Robbie join our Summer Con dojo. Please welcome Tanner Buchanan to Puyallup for the Washington State Summer Con from June 20th through the 22nd.

Tanner portrayed Robbie Keene in the hit series Cobra Kai where he evolves from a troubled teen and thief to a skilled martial artist seeking redemption. Initially joining Cobra Kai, he grapples with anger and loyalty, later embracing Miyagi-Do’s balance. His arc culminates in personal growth, reconciling with his father, Johnny, and finding purpose through karate.

Tanner’s acting journey began at age 12 with a debut role in the hit series Modern Family (2010), appearing as a child in the episode “Halloween.” He later made his big-screen debut in Jake Squared and appeared in guest roles on shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Major Crimes, and The Goldbergs. His early television work showcased his ability to balance heartthrob and complex character roles, notably in Girl Meets World (2015) as Charlie Gardner and The Fosters (2016). Buchanan’s recurring role as Mason Kendall in Nickelodeon’s Game Shakers (2015–2019) further highlighted his comedic flair.

A breakout came with his series regular role in Designated Survivor (2016–2018), where he played Kiefer Sutherland’s rebellious son. This role paved the way for his most iconic performance as Robby Keene in Netflix’s Cobra Kai (2018–2025) earning him widespread acclaim across six seasons. In 2019, Buchanan starred in Max Winslow and the House of Secrets, earning a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Canadian International Faith & Family Film Festival, and led the thriller Sinister Seduction as Dylan Warren.

His film credits expanded with Chance (2020), He’s All That (2021) as Cameron Kweller, and The Hyperions (2022) as Apollo. In 2024, he starred in the romantic comedy How to Date Billy Walsh. Additionally, Buchanan narrated the audiobook of The Great Gatsby (2021), showcasing his versatility.
