Let’s add another huge anime star and THE Sniper King of the Straw Hat Pirates to the lineup for the Washington State Summer Con. Please welcome Sonny Strait to Puyallup from June 21st through the 23rd. As a voice actor, Sonny is considered one of the most recognized voice actors in the business.
Sonny is most recognized as the voice of Krillin on Dragonball Z, Usopp in One Piece, Maes Hughes in Fullmetal Alchemist, Augustus Kira Clover XIII in Black Clover, and Koro Sensei from Assassination Classroom. Sonny voices Present Mic in My Hero Acedamia and Cartoon Network’s original laidback, robot host Toonami Tom. He has also worked as a writer and director on several TV series including Dragonball Z, Case Closed, and Lupin the Third.
In the comic book field, he has over 20 published works to date including his graphic novel series We Shadows published by Tokyopop and Elfquest which WARP Graphics, Dark Horse, and DC Comics published. Sonny is considered one of the top artists and illustrators from Elfquest, arguably, the most famous, independently published comic book series. Sonny Strait has over 20 years of experience in the arts.
In 2007, he wrote and illustrated a graphic novel about a reluctant punk rock, faerie princess named Goat. The book called We Shadows, was published by Tokyopop and was nominated for the American Library Association’s Award for Best Graphic Novel in 2008. The book received glowing reviews in many trade magazines including Publishers Weekly, Newtype, Play, and Anime Insider.
