Give this guy a Swiss Army knife, duct tape, and a paper clip and anything is possible. Please welcome Richard Dean Anderson to the Washington State Summer Con from June 21st through the 23rd. Whether portraying MacGyver or Jack O’Neill, chances are that you know Richard, and we are honored to host him in Puyallup this Summer.

Richard began his television career in 1976, playing Jeff Webber in the American soap opera series General Hospital. He made numerous guest appearances in series such as The Facts of Life and The Love Boat and was cast as the star in two CBS series, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Emerald Point N.A.S., but both lasted just one season. Then he rose to prominence as the lead actor in the television series MacGyver for 139 episodes. He later appeared in films such as Through the Eyes of a Killer, Pandora’s Clock, and Firehouse.

In 1997, Anderson returned to television as the lead actor of the series Stargate SG-1, a spin-off of the 1994 film Stargate, replacing actor Kurt Russell. He played the lead from 1997 to 2005 and had a recurring role from 2005 to 2007. Since 1997, he has starred in only one film: Stargate: Continuum, released in 2008 as a sequel film after the Stargate SG-1 film The Ark of Truth. He appeared in the follow-up Stargate spin-off series Stargate: Atlantis and Stargate: Universe (reprising his role from SG-1 as Major General and later Lieutenant General Jack O’Neill).

Anderson is heavily involved in numerous charities including Boys and Girls Clubs, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Special Olympics, and Environmental organizations.
