Chris Claremont is a comic book writer best known for his 16-year (1975-1991) stint on Uncanny X-Men, during which the series became one of the comic book industry’s most successful properties. His work is lauded for its anti-prejudice themes, andgroundbreaking inclusion of minorities as heroes.
Claremont’s first work at Marvel Comics was an assignment on Daredevil, given to him by the editor, and Summer Con guest, Roy Thomas. He is the creator of such iconic characters as Rogue, Psylocke, Shadowcat, Phoenix, Mystique, Legion, Warpath, Gambit, Emma Frost, and dozens of others.
In addition to the X-Men and its many offshoots, Chris also worked on other major properties such as Batman, Superman, New Mutants, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Dr. Strange, and The Fantastic Four to name a few. He is the author of nine novels, has written and contributed to many television series and movies, and even acted with his X-Men cameo appearances.
